Leap Year Litter: 7 – 8 weeks, The Girls

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:56 am

Today is the girls’ day. I picked the cutest shot(s) of each girl. Dove’s series is first. After having her belly shaved to get an ultrasound of her kidney that has been damaged from mom stepping on her, Dove got to spend some time with us in the bed and posed with her new seahorse stuffie. A few days later she gives us a cool smile while playing out on the deck. Speaking of cool, her favorite spot to beat the heat and stay cool in the daytime is under this potted plant. Today I got out the water hose to rinse the deck off and empty and refill their pool. Dove had a blast playing with the water coming from the hose and then talked Origami and Tuxedo into romping up and down in the mist from the oh so holey water hose! It was cute. Too bad I didn’t have a waterproof camera on me. (;

Origami is the sweetheart in the next series. The first pose was captured just before she ran over to give me KISSES! It’s quite difficult to get good pictures sometimes. Between someone attacking the camera, someone else attacking me, someone thinking that I should be taking a picture of them and jumping in front of the camera as I snap a picture, the subject(s) realizing I’m looking at them which instantly signals to them to run over, and the perfect shot gone because someone attacks the perfectly situated subject(s) of the picture – it’s a wonder I have any non blurry shots! Have I mentioned that they are very, very playful? Back to Origami. In her second photo, she has stolen Dove’s favorite spot and has decided she likes it as well. Then during a covert mission to save the poor unfortunate toys which have fallen off the deck into enemy territory, aka Tootsie’s reach, I snapped a few shots of the puppies from the other side of the deck rails. Origami stuck her head under and tried to give kisses to her mom who you can see in the next photo about to sniff Origami.

The Pretender had a lot of good shots on this particular day. The series is started out by one her laying by the X-pen that we have to keep in front of the door so we can get out on the deck. Without it there, the puppies lay in a huge pile in front of the door and then we can’t open it. Silly puppies! I like her second shot because it looks like she is about to say something as she sits with the stuffed soccer ball. I also love the black around their noses before the little gray whiskers start as you can see very well in this photo. Jonette love this next photo because the little yellow plastic ring, one of their toys, is situated so that she appears to have a little halo. :D Then Tender, as we often call her, shows you just what I mean about how much they love to attack the camera. I guess sometimes it works to my advantage though, as this truly shows off her playful, comical nature. Finally, her portfolio isn’t complete without a nice head shot as every model should have one and she thinks she could be cut out for that kind of work.

Cindy Lou does her best to rival her sister efforts to be the most photogenic. She starts her portfolio off with a nice, sweet relaxing in the shade pose. Then she includes a nice contrasting face shot looking directly into the camera. Next she shows her happy go lucky, fun-loving side. She has a great smile. Then she tries for that beach look after playing in the pool. Finally I snagged this action shot of her from the other side while rescuing the toys.

Last is Number 7 and for whatever reason, she just didn’t feel photogenic that day. I got only this one good individual shot of her. I really like it though. She is absolutely beautiful. She did get in one some of the group shots, so you’ll see more of her there. I’ll probably also make an effort to make sure she to get some nice ones of her in the next batch. She is one of the ones who likes to be right up next to, making it hard to get her photos. I love the way she comes and sits at my feet and just melts my heart with her soulful eyes.

So our adventure to the vet yesterday for their liver shunts tests was a blast. It took a lot of convincing (and some carrying) to get the puppies to come through the house, out the front door and into the front yard. Once we were in the front yard we stopped to let them run around and enjoy themselves. They instantly discovered the fun in running up and down, up and down, up and down…. the ramp! They also decided that they must try to chew up the potted plants. What kind of babies would they be if they weren’t bad?! Well, we got them all in the van and made it over to the clinic without any problems. Then they carried them in one by one where Doc was ready and waiting to take their first blood samples. Apparently Jonette tried to hold Chicken Man for his sample to be taken and he threw a fit for her! lol. One of the technicians came in and he settled down some. They are always better for strangers because they don’t know where they stand with them. I was told Cindy Lou Who was also hell on wheels, I was still outside with the remaining pups in the van so I didn’t witness this for myself. The original plan was to pick them up before lunch, but they all decided they didn’t want to eat and so it was 3:30 before they got done. When we got to the vet, we woke them up and immediate put them in the van – not the smartest idea ever. Four of them peed on the way home. Oh well, at least we had three layers of dog blankets on the floor which are easy to bring in and clean. More photos soon. I have some nice group shots.

Leap Year Litter: 7 – 8 weeks, The Boys

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:03 pm

I got tons of pictures yesterday so I’m sending out the first round. A few are also from this past Saturday. I decided to pick some nice individual shots of each boy to start with.

Chicken Man photos are first. We got one of him modeling one of the tiny cowboy hats that were part of the 2008 IWCA Specialty mementos. In the next photo is a rare shot of Jonette that she actually let me send out!! I love his tongue in this one. Then a front face shot while he is sitting in my lap. Ladies and gentlemen this puppy has the CUTEST face!! We don’t know what it is, but we all love him. Then I got a shot of him sleeping on a set of brick to help cool off, and Tootsie is even in the background. Finally, he looks up at the camera with his little wet face.

Captain Hook’s series are next. First he shows off his belly and cute kangaroo style ears! Then he shows off his beautiful, sweet eyes. He has a great expression, lovely dark eyes and beautiful eye lashes. Finally a shot of him doing what he loves the most – sleeping. (:

The next series are of Tuxedo. His first shot is of him laying in the shade looking up at me with great expression. He is a very, very sweet boy. Then I got one of him just before he got up to come and play with the camera strap. Boy do they love trying to get the camera!! Finally, he shows off their new swimming pool as he investigates what’s inside of it.

Last is Jack who was fortunate enough to have his dad, Larry, come visit him and his siblings today. I got a picture or two, but haven’t gotten to those yet! His first shot fools you into thinking that he’s a sweetie, but looks can be deceiving! He’s one the of the spitfire babies for sure. (: He shows off more of his deceitful cuteness in the next photo with a giant happy grin that looks less mischievous that it really is. Then, I got one where he’s got both his ears flipped back and his tongue out – I love it! Finally another happy Jack photo. He has ALWAYS been so sweet to me and everyone kept telling me how mean he was but I didn’t believe them, but now he’s decided to show me that side, too. He just likes to pick fights with his siblings.

Leap Year Litter: 4 – 5 weeks

The puppies don’t know it yet, but they are just waiting on some good weather. They have more and more energy everyday and I can’t wait until the weather is good enough to get them outside to really run around and play. Their appetites are great and they are up to 4-5 cups 4-5 times a day. We’re burning through the newspaper faster and faster!

We’re coming up on week 5 and I can’t believe that their time with us is about halfway over! Last week on their weigh in the pups were around 7 pounds. I think this week will be the last week we’ll be able to use the 10lb scale.

Their little personalities are starting to shine and ALL of them are so very, very sweet!
