Norris and all the babies are doing very well. I can’t believe how fast they are growing. When someone else takes a shift so I can sleep I can tell they’ve grown in just a few hours! Today an exciting change is beginning to take place – their eyes are starting to open. (: The corners of several of the puppies eyes have opened so over the next few days I expect them all to finally get their first glimpses of life.
Also, the long awaited formal introductions of each puppy.
Here are the girls:

They are, in birth order and top to bottom: Cindy Lou Who, Dove, Origami, The Pretender, and # 7.
Cindy Lou Who is one of the two lighter brindle puppies. The white spot on her chest looked like an animal that belonged in a Dr. Suess book, so she was named after the little girl in the Grinch. Dove is our smallest girl (at least for now, we know that can definitely change!) and is a darker brindle like the majority of the puppies. Her white spot is a triangular shield which looked like a dove. Origami is a darker brindle with a series of white spots on her chest that looked to me like a crane or egret eating a worm. We didn’t like Crane or Egret as a name so we thought we should call her Cow Bird. That didn’t go over well with every one, so we came up with Origami since a folded crane often comes to mind when thinking of origami. The Pretender was, at birth, thought to be wheaten, but only a few hours later we realized she definitely had some stripes. She is actually almost completely wheaten on her show side (as seen in the picture) except for her shoulder, chest, and head. She has more stripes on her non-show side as I’m sure you’ll see in future photos. Our last girl is our biggest girl. # 7 (yes we call her “Number Seven”) was the largest puppy from birth and has maintained that position. She is a darker brindle and can she loves to eat! In honor of Cassie B, a past Steppin’wolf hound, we call her # 7 as that was Cassie B’s puppy name since she was the seventh puppy born in her litter as # 7 was in this litter.
Now for the boys:

They are, in birth order from bottom to top this time: Chicken Man, Tennessee Jack, Captain Hook, and Tuxedo.
Chicken Man is our smallest boy (for now) and he is darker brindle. His white spot looks reminiscent of a chicken, so that’s where we got his name. He and Dove look the most alike. Aside from being relatively the same size, their heads favor each other. Tennessee Jack started off as the smallest boy and has quickly become the largest! He is a dark brindle with a pretty, almost symmetrical shield on his chest. Captain Hook is our other lighter brindle puppy. Jonette picked his name out. Finally, we have Tuxedo. He is a darker brindle with all white on the bottoms of his feet a triangular white spot on his chest and dab of white on his chin – thus reminiscent of a tuxedo. So far, Tuxedo, Tennessee Jack, and # 7 look very similar to one another.
And finally one of everyone all together:

On the top and all facing the left are the boys in birth order from left to right. On the bottom and all facing the right are the girls in birth order from right to left.
I’ve take more photos since these, so expect some more soon!
